Reactive variables

How the RTC color variable set is structured and how to use it in design.

Reactive variables

The color system lives in a Figma collection named RTC. You generate it once (Generate palette), bind design to those variables, then change bases in the plugin when the palette changes.

Five roles

Primary, Secondary, Accent, Text, Background — same family. Text is typically for writing (dark); Background for surface (light).

Groups (per role)

Group Meaning
Tints (light) Toward white
Shades (dark) Toward black
Alpha Opacity steps 5%–100%

Steps are every 5% from 5 to 100. One full set is 307 variables.

How to use

  1. Generate or update the scheme in the plugin.
  2. Bind fills, strokes, and text to RTC variables.
  3. Change Primary / Secondary / Accent (or paste a Realtime Colors URL) — bound work updates.

FAQ

A reactive variable is a normal Figma color variable connected to the Inked Colibri plugin. The plugin generates shades, tints, and alpha values for your color roles. Use those variables in your design; change the scheme in the plugin and the bound design updates with it.
